Nawe Jwand

This project had a simple beginning: a friend of mine asked if I could photograph the clothing that a group of refugees from Pakistan made. It was the beginning of a friendship. They weren’t just refugees with terrible stories to tell, they were also people with personalities and life histories trying to recreate a new home in a new country and hitting up against the diffidences that Europeans have for the massive continuous waves of immigrants arriving. These images are documents of the people of our times, archetypes of the multiplicity of human beings that create a new environment where everyday objects become hybridized and put into social practice to give a contribute towards a new heterogeneity of the territory.
